Happy New Year, Beautiful Reader!
I am bursting with spousal pride for a brilliant―and very unexpected―reason.
Laureldale Universe Update: M.K. Thorne
After years of shying away, my wonderful husband Chris is making his author debut!
Mwahahaha!
And, of course, I’m the instigator and the project is expanding the Lauredale Universe.
Double Mwahahaha!
The worldbuilding behind Laureldale is massive with so many treasures I want to share with readers that just haven’t found a place in the story and, because that’s how it goes sometimes, may never make it into one of the series’ novels.
My original plan for this extra world lore was a collection of academic-style explanations just laying out the information.
Plan A became Plan B and swiveled over to Plan E before becoming its own project with Chris at the helm.
Basically, Chris is stepping into the role of M.K. Thorne, a character in the Laureldale Universe, and compiling a journal of notes on the supernatural from Thorne’s point of view. Whether it’s a description of a new weapon he ran into in a fight, a bit of aitherion history he searched ancient texts to uncover, or an incident report explaining why he needs to avoid Manhattan for a while, each of his entries gives a deeper look into Laureldale while you fall in love with our ass-kicking, tattooed, hunting-for-a-redemption-arc hero.
There are three Thorne entries featured in this week’s episode of the Page by Page podcast!
And don’t forget, you can now view episode videos on Facebook, Youtube, and Substack.
Or, you can read the posts on Substack.
Psst. If you’re looking for authorly fun or writing tips, make sure you check out this week’s podcast episode. We talk everything from how your author voice can evolve to the genuine importance behind your protagonist’s drink of choice.
Romantasy Research Update
My deepdive into the start, stars, and ongoing gender divide in the Romantasy world continues. I’ve been building my Romantasy Family Tree and reading list and have created a collection on BookShop.Org* for those who want to join the journey.
I’ve just started curating the collection so there will be lots more titles, notes, and explanations to come, but if you’re looking for a new Romantasy read, give the list a look!
Want one of my Romantasy titles? You can find signed copies and exclusive book boxes through my shop.
Florida Friends
Central Florida Comic Con is just around the corner!
We aren’t allowed to share details yet, but I will be running a workshop during the event.
I’ll post the schedule as soon as I get the go ahead, so keep an eye on my social media for updates!
Maribel (Babs) wishes you a New Year of peace and joy.
May the escape reading brings be the balm you need,
Megan
P.S.
If you’ve finished Sketchbook of a Wayward Seer either through the Page by Page podcast or as part of the ARC team and have a moment to leave an honest review on Goodreads, I’d be so grateful!
Haven’t finished Sketchbook of a Wayward Seer? Adding the title as Want to Read on Goodreads is an amazing help, too!
